Review: KTM Duke 200

KTM Duke 200

This long awaited stunning street bike from the joint alliance of Bajaj Auto of India and KTM of Austria has finally been launched on 24th, January 2012. The Duke 200 will be available in the existing Pro-Biking stores across 30 cities an 32 dealers which are all set to dawn the new orange look of the KTM. The bookings will start from 1st February 2012.

Design and Styling
The new style icon in the bikes is here. The bike looks radical with macho, butch and aggressive styling. The Duke 200 has the looks to make it an instant hit with the young bikers of the country. This nude bike weighs 136 kgs.
The front of the bike looks great because of the attractive headlight cluster, a small chin light below the main headlight gives the bike a ready to go attitude so its a nice touch. The instrument cluster is digital and looks modern and different from any thing we have seen before. The rear styling is decent with the led brake light and the turn indicators mounted high. The side of the bike looks stunning with nice graphics and the bumpy fuel tank. The large alloy wheels enhances the look of the bike and will also deliver comfortable ride. It will be available in black+orange colour combination.

Performance
You must have already guessed that the engine capacity is 200cc and don't go by it alone as this monster of an engine generates 25 Bhp maximum power and maximum power of around 19.2 nm of torque. The engine is a single cylinder, 4-valve, liquid cooled and fuel injected. It has the best in class power to weight ratio in its class of 184 Ps/ton. Just to give a feel how powerful this engine is let me tell you that 200cc commuter bikes available in India deliver 15 to 18 Bhp of maximum power. With this much power the Duke 200 will reach 100km/hr from stand still in under 10 seconds. The top speed is 135km/hr. You get disk brakes on front and rear increasing the confidence of the rider on the handling.

Now the lets talk about the Price: Bajaj and KTM has priced the Duke 200 very competitively at an introductory price of  Rs. 1,17,500(ex-showroom Delhi). This magical price tag has been achieved with the help of over 95% localisation. The bike will be produced at the Chakan plant of the Bajaj Auto.

Like always leave a comment on the bike and your feedback is always welcome and it will be good to hear from you and if you want me to write on any particular topic do let me know!!!!!!!
